How this site makes money.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission.
Read the ratesWhat we earn
This page says what that is, what it is not, and exactly which programmes we are in.
If you buy something through one of them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We are enrolled in the affiliate programmes of the retailers and brands we link to. The usual structure is a percentage of the purchase price for a direct product, or a flat fee for a lead on a quote-based product such as pet insurance. Commission rates differ a lot between programmes, and the rates below are the ones in force when this page was last reviewed.
| Programme | Rate | Window | Approval | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whisker, direct Litter-Robot, sold DTC | 8% – 9% | 14 days | None | Reported EPC is $5.06 on the direct store against $0.73 on Amazon listings. A $500–$750 decision needs the longer window. |
| PetSafe | up to 9% | 14 days | None | PetSafe is the leading brand on Amazon US in both smart-litter-box keywords, so it converts the traffic a comparison page sends. |
| PETSNOWY | up to 11.25% | 14 days | None | Highest percentage in the DTC stack we track. |
| Pet insurance providers | flat per referral | 30+ days | Varies | Paid per qualified quote rather than per sale. We do not rank providers on the size of the fee. |
| Amazon Associates | rate card not published to us | 24 hours | Standard | The session ends 24 hours after the click, so a reader who returns to a comparison page two days later earns nothing. Used as a fallback, never as the main CTA. |
Programme terms observed 2026-10-28 from the Lasso network pages, the Impact programme data and the Amazon Associates Program Policies. Rates change; the figures above are dated observations, not a live quote.
Where the disclosure has to sit
The US Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising require a disclosure to be "difficult to miss" and placed in the visual portion at the point of the endorsement, not in a footer. So the notice at the top of every page is not decoration: it is where the rule requires it to be, and it stays there whether or not a specific page carries a paid link.
What commission does not change
Which products are listed. A product is in the dataset because we could source its specification and a dated price, not because it pays.
How they are ordered. The order of a comparison table follows the specification and the price we observed, and a setup-risk score. No product is badged as a pick because of its rate.
What we write. There is no "sponsored" slot, no paid placement and no product that is described in language the manufacturer would not use. If a product has a bad documented complaint record, that record is on the page whether or not the product pays us.
Whether we can be critical. Every product in our dataset has a trade-offs list. For several of them the list is longer than the strengths list.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for a review, a placement or a rating.
- We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage.
- We do not use affiliate links in email newsletters or in any download we send.
- We do not use link cloaking or shorteners. Every outbound link shows its destination.
- We do not ask a brand to approve a page before it goes live.
How we mark it
A disclosure notice appears at the top of every page on this site. Where a specific link leads to a paid destination, the link is marked. A reader who never sees the banner still sees the notice on the page.
Questions
If something on this page is unclear, or you think a link is being presented in a misleading way, tell us. We would rather fix it than defend it.
